‘Covert Affairs’ season 5, episode 11 spoilers: What’s next for Annie, Auggie?

The season 5 finale of “Covert Affairs” was certainly eventful, to say the least. Annie and McQuaid saw their relationship certainly evolve, and then we learned that one of the closest people to McQuaid in Caitlyn was actually the one responsible for what happened in Chicago.

Once again, though, the relationship that we do care about the most here is Annie and Auggie, and the fact that she continually used him at times to cover for her caused a big rift. He legitimately sacrificed to protect her operation, and he’s none too pleased with her now.

Is there hope for things to change between the two of them when the show returns? It sounds like it (eventually), based on what executive producer Matt Corman said to TV Guide on the subject:

“Their relationship is the bedrock of the show. They’ve been through some very difficult times together, but what’s great about Annie and Auggie is they keep working on it. They need one another, they love one another in a way that’s deeper than just mere romance at this point. They’re always going to be interacting. They have a lot to figure out, but they’re going to be trying to do that.”

So when could the second part of the season air? There is no confirmed premiere date yet, but there are three separate windows that USA likes to air six-episode runs: Late fall (starting around the middle or end of October), winter (starting around the second week in January) or early March. The network did confirm that it will be choosing the fall, so we just have to figure out the exact date. This makes the most sense for this show, given that this was done last year, and do you really want to wait until next year to see what happens next?
