‘Masters of Sex’ season 2, episode 6: How Lizzy Caplan prepares to play Virginia

Typically, Showtime releases two sneak peek clips for their “Masters of Sex” episodes, and that affords us an opportunity to discuss all sorts of events that are coming up.

However, the network is doing something a little bit different for Sunday night’s new episode, and that allows for us to do the same thing! Rather than share a clip that gives you more insight into the story, we have a new sneak peek video below that gives you further insight into the long, complicated process that Lizzy Caplan goes through every day in order to become the character … and to think that Virginia Johnson is a TV character who is not that extreme when it comes to makeup.

As Caplan and makeup designer Jean Ann Black tell us, it takes around half an hour for the makeup to be properly applied, and they also go through the work that needs to be done in the hair department. The finished product is obviously one of the most-notable characters on premium cable right now, but also a woman who has herself in a terrible position. While she may be a genius in many ways, Virginia is wrestling with the morality of her relationship with Bill, the revelations that the study may have in the future, and also some of her other career responsibilities. These are issues that she will continue to fight moving forward. There is a time jump coming at some point this season, and it will be therefore very interesting to see where the story picks up from there.
