‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Kyle MacLachlan signs on as…
If you want to have a good show, then be sure you at some point hire Kyle MacLachlan for something. This is at least a strategy that has seemingly worked for a number of other people over time. Just look at “Sex and the City” or “How I Met Your Mother.” (It wasn’t his fault that the latter botched the ending.)
Now, we’ve learned that the latest show to scoop the actor up is none other than Marvel’s own “Agents of SHIELD.” Sources confirm that MacLachlan will recur throughout the show’s second season in the role of Skye’s super-mysterious father. There were questions and plotlines centered all around this story during the first season, and now he will be present to hopefully deliver some answers.
One of the cool things to us about Kyle getting this role is that he’s now officially a part of the Marvel universe! We get excited about that all of the time, since it could open up possibilities for almost any character depending on how well they are received.
The new season of the show presents many challenges for Jed Whedon and company, mostly in that they have to figure out a way to tell a story that is very exciting, while not doing anything that will require a whole lot of explanation during the upcoming Marvel movies. Unlike season 1, there is not going to be a big film like “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” coming in and messing up anything. Even “Guardians of the Galaxy” chose to (SPOILER ALERT) end with a cameo of Howard the Duck more so than anything too heavy on the SHIELD front.
