‘Last Comic Standing’: Alingon Mitra officially wins ‘Comic Comeback’ contest
While Alingon Mitra may not have the official title of “Last Comic Standing,” can’t he at least have some sort of badge that claims that he is the people’s champ? After all, the guy has to be feeling pretty good right about now about winning the online “Comic Comeback” contest. He has been in showdown mode with the comics basically ever since the Challenge Round began, and he methodically has taken out every one of them. The only time we even felt like he was in any danger was against Monroe Martin.
Thanks to winning this, Mitra will perform during the show’s finale on August 14 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. There isn’t really another prize that goes along with this seemingly, but hey, it’s more screen time. We’re happy that he won; his sense of humor is somewhat nerdy, and therefore in line with just about everything that we stand for when it comes to comedy.
As for who else will be there for this final show, the race is down to just Nikki Carr, Rod Man, Lachlan Patterson, and Joe Machi. We felt like Rocky LaPorte was a pretty obvious 5th place, now the field is relatively open. This could ultimately come down now to who out of the comics are better suited for an NBC development deal for their own show. We can imagine a Rod Man show in our brain listening to him talk about babies that are going through “changes,” but could Joe Machi’s delivery work when he is working off of a script with other people? These are all good questions.
For now, just take a look at one of Alingon’s winning sets below, and head over here to read our full review of Thursday’s episode. Also, sign up to get some other news worth checking out via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
