‘Doctor Who’ season 8, episode 1 spoilers: First details on ‘Deep Breath’
You’ve waited for it ever since Christmas, but “Doctor Who” is almost finally back! As of Saturday, it will only be three weeks until season 8 premieres on the BBC, and you can see just what Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman bring to their respective roles. It’s a brand-new Doctor, and thanks to that you have to believe that you will see some new sides to Clara, as well.
In case you haven’t heard just yet, the premiere episode is entitled “Deep Breath,” and we have some of the first details now via the BBC. Basically, the easy way to describe this story is that we’re going to be seeing Jenna Coleman’s character struggle mightily with the fact that this is not the same sort of lovable character that he was when Matt Smith was playing him. Take a look at the official synopsis:
“The Doctor has regenerated and now Clara has to deal with the fact that her best friend appears to have changed completely… Meanwhile the newly regenerated Time Lord must face a terrifying monster as the Twelfth Doctor’s era begins in dramatic style!”
Yay, a “terrifying monster”! Who can be surprised by that? The fact that the show is throwing #12 straight into the fire is probably a good thing. There will be no waiting, and we’ll get to be excited about all stories in shenanigans as soon as humanly possible.
While you already know that the premiere is going to be screened in many theaters around the world, BBC America is making even more of an effort to turn their premiere into something special with both a pre-show and also a live aftershow hosted by Chris Hardwick.
