‘The Bachelor’ spoilers: Are Chris Soules, Arie Luyendyk Jr. campaigning?
We cannot say that we’ve ever quite seen a “Bachelor” debate quite like the one going on between Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Chris Soules. Typically, ABC decides on a candidate quietly, and then everyone gets their ducks in a row, signs the deal, and then production begins.
However, this season has been certainly interesting, to say the least. It’s already been leaked that both Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Chris Soules are in contention for the show’s next season, and the two have started a campaign of sorts that we haven’t seen in a long time.
For Arie, he actually posted on his Twitter account that he is very interested in the role of Bachelor, should he be lucky enough to have it come his way:
“No hiding it anymore! Would love to share my journey with all of you, but it’s up to #bachelornation. Open, hopeful and more than ready.”
Meanwhile, Chris took a different approach in merely retweeting the messages of many fans of the show who want to see him take on the role at some point in the future.
We discussed the subject of who should be the next “Bachelor” at length in our most-recent podcast for the show, but there was one interesting facet of this that we didn’t include: Ratings. While Chris is popular, the numbers for Andi Dorfman’s season were some of the lowest that the show has ever seen. There may be some value in going instead for someone like Arie. His season starring Emily Maynard had better numbers, and he also has fans within the racing community who may tune in to watch.
With all of this being said, we still feel like the show is going to choose Chris for the role. He’s the safe choice, and he’s recent in viewers’ mind. Still, at least Arie is helping to make this interesting.

I agree, i’m over the safe choices, makes for boring seasons. Arie has some fire, and isn’t afraid to shake things up.
