‘Person of Interest’ season 4 spoilers: See the new world in official trailer

Comic-Con loves their lengthy trailers, and Sunday brought us the first extended clip of “Person of Interest” season 4.

There were some parts of this that contained some footage that you remember fondly from the third season, but the good news for you here is that this isn’t the only thing that it contained. There was some content in here showing that Shaw and Root are up to now in the sake of Samaritan, and there are actually some opportunities for comedy here. Without giving everything away, let’s just say that the two are not in a very familiar position at all.

As for the rest of the story, this preview also gives you a quick look at “Mad Men” alum Cara Buono in a role that is still extremely under wraps. All we know is that she has some ties to whatever this “new world order” with Samaritan is, and that she is extremely deadly. Maybe she is to this Machine what Root was with the old one? That’s at least one theory.

Above all else, the general feeling that we are getting from this trailer right now is this: If you enjoyed the third season, you’ll probably love this. The show’s mythology is being pushed more than it ever was before, and that alone has to make you excited. For a network in CBS that is known mostly for producing cop procedural shows, this is looking more and more like an ambitious project by the day. We applaud the creativity!
