‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4 video: Anson Mount gives you a tour behind the scenes
Can you believe that the “Hell on Wheels” season 4 premiere is just about here? In just over a week now, you’re going to have an opportunity to see Cullen Bohannon back in the (metaphorical) saddle as he tries to balance his new life as a husband with his old one as one of the most dangerous, charismatic men around in the world of the railroad and the expanding west.
Today, Anson Mount was kind enough to take us on a tour all around the set of Cheyenne (which in this case is actually near Calgary, Alberta) in a video posted by AMC. You can see all of the care that goes into creating the buildings, making everything feel authentic, and then going within the individual rooms and decorating them just as they would be in the time. There is enough attention to detail thrown in here that you would actually want to believe that some of these sets are 100% real.
The one thing that really does catch our eye, though, is the amount of mud and water that is on the ground. It’s further emblematic of the conditions that the cast and crew have been working in really the past two years. Last year the flooding was so bad in the area that it shut down production; while there was no emergency situation this time, the weather does continue to take its toll and make production seem even more rugged … and that’s saying something, since we already feel like this is one of the more hardcore sets on TV in terms of location and the sort of work being done.
We’ll have some further updates on “Hell on Wheels” moving into the weekend and throughout next week, so stay on the lookout for that. You can click here for now to get the latest, or here if you want to sign up for more on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
