ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: Portia de Rossi scores secret story arc

“Scandal” has done some great things over the past few years when it comes to taking relatively unexpected guest stars and having them do great things. For example, just take a look at what we had with Lisa Kudrow during season 3.

This time around, “Arrested Development” and “Better Off Ted” alum Portia de Rossi is the actress with the comedy background joining the show, though details about her part are still under wraps. The news of her casting was first reported by her wife Ellen DeGeneres in a post on Twitter:

“So annoying when people brag on twitter & that’s why I’m not tweeting that Portia just signed on to do a top secret arc on ‘Scandal’. Oops.”

“Scandal” has been mostly quiet on the casting front throughout the entire summer, though we expect that to change somewhat courtesy of filming for the show starting up next week. This has not been a show that is necessarily shy about sharing information about actors appearing on the show; the time for ambiguity has instead come when they choose to announce what roles they are going to be playing.

The new season of the show will premiere on Thursday, September 28 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and for the time being the biggest cliffhanger is what Olivia Pope is going to do upon her return to Washington. (We’re at least assuming that she comes back, given that there would not be a whole lot of a show without her.) Also, you have Huck finding out about his family, and the other Gladiators figuring out what to do without their leader.
