ABC’s ‘Resurrection’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Game of Thrones’ alum Michelle Fairley signs on
“Resurrection” just got some very good news. Just in case they already did not have an iconic actor in Kurtwood Smith from “RoboCop” on the show, they’ve also got one of the most-prominent alumni from HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
Sources confirm (per Deadline) that Michelle Fairley, who you may have also seen in arcs on both “Suits” and “24: Live Another Day,” is going to recur throughout the second season of the supernatural ABC show in the role of Margaret Langston, the tough and imposing mother of Smith’s Henry and brother Fred. She has been dead for many decades now, and her return is also going to come with some dark secrets about her past, and what she plans to do moving forward.
(Spoiler alert ahead for “Game of Thrones” fans!)
The irony here shouldn’t be lost on anyone that Fairley’s Catelyn Stark was long suspected to be returning from the dead as Lady Stoneheart on the HBO show, only for her to be revived on a different show instead. It was starting to be clear earlier this summer that producers for the show had no plans to adapt this part of the George R.R. Martin books (as cool as it would have been) for the story, and Fairley herself has said that she doesn’t have any knowledge of her coming back. Given the timing of this new gig, it seems pretty clear that if Stoneheart is in the fifth season, it cannot be a very big role.
