‘Sam & Cat’ series finale: Ariana Grande – Jeannette McCurdy show ends; happy?
The end of “Sam & Cat” on Nickelodeon is something that no one would have saw coming back during the show’s first creation. This was a spin-off of two popular shows in “iCarly” and “Victorious” fronted by two of the biggest stars in Jeannette McCurdy and Ariana Grande.
So why was the show canceled? We’ve laid it all out here, but there are a variety of reasons that include Grande’s surging pop career, issues behind the scenes, and possibly even the rigors of doing a 35-episode first season. We feel for the cast and crew after going through something like this.
We feel for many of the show’s fans, especially those who watched back when “iCarly” was still going through its first season or so. In the end, though, this may be for the best. “Sam & Cat” needed to end when the actors were still really enjoying the process; we’re not saying that they stopped, but they clearly have some other things going on now. The show, and the characters, really had a good run on Nick, longer than most children’s shows when you consider where they started.
Also, this is probably not the last that you’ll ever seen either Ariana or Jeannette on TV in the future. Even though the former is more of a singer these days, we could see her on another comedy or at least doing a sketch or two on “Saturday Night Live” in the future kind of like Miley Cyrus has. Meanwhile, McCurdy could leap over to a more adult-oriented show in the near future, especially with pilot season coming up. She has her own devoted following, and we’re thrilled to see what happens with her next.
