ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4: Shonda Rhimes not in any hurry to ‘replace’ Columbus Short

More scoop -Typically when you have a successful show, that often means that you have a pretty enormous budget that you can use to do almost anything that you want. So with that in mind, shouldn’t Shonda Rhimes be really trying to do a lot right now when it comes to “Scandal“? Columbus Short is no longer a part of the cast, and in theory, that means that someone else could take his spot.

While all of this is true, Rhimes is still hesitant to say that there is going to be a strict replacement coming in for Short. She specifically told reporters at the TCA Summer Press Tour today that she isn’t looking to hire any new series regulars right away, and is more just looking to continue along the show presently constituted. Will there be a chance to add another regular or two later? Sure, but we feel like this is probably a better move? You do want to take your time and ensure you have the right people, after all, and not just cast a few  without knowing how they fit in with the rest of cast.

One other interesting comment that Rhimes made right now about if there will be future members of Olivia Pope and Associates is that right now, there may not be much of an OPA at all. She’s totally right in saying this, given that at the moment Olivia is off in parts unknown with Jake.
