‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11: What just-departed cast member landed new gig?
When we first heard the news that Gaius Charles was joining the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy,” we had hoped he would be there forever. He’s a stellar actor from the days of “Friday Night Lights,” and we even loved his little stint on “Pan Am.”
Therefore, we were certainly floored when we first heard the news that Charles was going to be leaving the show. It’s hard to say what happened there, but it’s hard to spend a whole lot of time dwelling on it when you consider the following: He’s already secured himself a new gig!
Per TVLine, Charles has snagged a recurring role in “Aquarius,” the upcoming 13-episode event series over at NBC. This show is set in the 1960s, and stars “Californication” alum David Duchovny as a police officer who is desperate to try and track down Charles Manson.
As for Charles’ role, he is going to play Bunchy Carter, who was at one point a gang member but now is a part of his own isolated Nation of Islam group. He is an imposing, threatening man with ties to Duchovny’s character, and he also has no love for white men.
This to us sounds like a meaty role, and we only hope that the scripts manage to meet the expectations that we have for this show. Event series are the flavor of the week right now, and the good thing about this one is that it will hopefully stay just that. Don’t mislead us only to renew the show!
