‘Doctor Who’ season 8 spoilers: See Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman in first official trailer
This is turning out to be quite a week for “Doctor Who,” isn’t it? While not all stories out there have been of the utmost positive variety, we are happy to see that all of it is ending now with the first reveal of the full season 8 trailer for the show.
This trailer is not entirely earth-shattering, especially since it does not reveal anything new thematically save for some of the questions that we have heard already. Clara (Jenna Coleman) is confused about whether or not this version of The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) is a good man, and largely acts as though she has no clue who he even is anymore. This is clearly a darker version of the man, and who seems to actually be struggling with the issue of his own mortality far more than the Matt Smith version did.
Maybe it was always the plan for the BBC to release this trailer today, given that we are not that far anymore from the show’s return on Saturday, August 23. Or, maybe this suddenly became the plan after all of the leaks that came out with first the script, and then also the majority of the first episode. It’s certainly a nice distraction from all of that, and once again we assert here that we are not going to be giving anything away from any of those leaks. Down so would be a disservice to the hard work that the cast, the crew, and showrunner Steven Moffat have put into this.
For now, what’s your take on this trailer, and does it do enough to make you even more excited about the return of the show to the air than you were previously? Be sure to sound off now in the comments below, and transport yourself over here to get some further updates via our official newsletter.
