ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7: The latest updates as Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic arrive soon

The latest -Good news, “Castle” fans: You’re not going to be waiting a whole lot longer for the opportunity to see the show back in production. Within this coming week much of the cast and crew will be back at it, working to ensure that new episodes are being made for the fall. (We’ve heard July 16 often as an official start date, but we’ve learned throughout the past few years that it’s better to be a little flexible.)

So what is already going on? What we can tell you for now is that the writers have obviously been at work for many weeks now on new episodes, and that the premiere episode was specifically written by new showrunner David Amann and will be directed by Rob Bowman, a fan favorite who did “Veritas,” “In the Belly of the Beast,” and one of our favorite episodes in “Time Will Tell.”

Also from the crew standpoint, many of the people from the artistic side of things are already back working on creating the right sets and all of the proper material to ensure that the beginning of production is as quick and breezy as possible. Given that there are 23 episodes that need to be filmed over the coming nine months or so, the show really does have to move along in a pretty streamlined fashion.

Obviously, we’ll have some more extensive updates on the premiere as filming begins, but you may know already now that the show plans on making the rescue of Castle into a two-part event, and the series is already casting characters that could be involved in this somehow.

While there’s no official season 7 premiere date just yet, we would be sure to probably mark down Monday, September 22. That seems to be the logical start based on when other networks are programming.
