Former ‘X Factor’ band Emblem3 loses Drew Chadwick; Wes, Keaton Stromberg continue on

The latest -

Who knew that there would be so much “X Factor” news happening in the same day?

Earlier, we wrote a little about how Alex & Sierra, the last winners of the US version of the show, are going to be performing on “The Today Show” Monday and also doing a signing. Now, we have less-than-pleasant news regarding the end of Emblem3, the band who were labeled as early favorites on the show’s second season before eventually finishing in fourth place: They are going to be short a band member here on out.

In a statement, the group confirmed that Drew Chadwick, who was with them on the show and performed with them for years before that, is leaving the pursue a solo project. They also say that Wesley and Keaton Stromberg, who are the group’s two brothers, will continue on making music and performing at shows this summer:

We have an important announcement to make. While we regret sharing this news, we as a group need to share that Drew has decided to move forward in pursuit of his solo career and will no longer be with Emblem3 or joining us on The Fireside Story Sessions. We’re sad to see Drew go but he will always be our brother, and we couldn’t be happier for him as he starts his new journey as a solo artist. If you’d like to stay updated on Drew’s solo album and news tune into Drew’s Twitter/Instagram and his YouTube channel for an announcement on June 27th regarding his new album. Drew sends hugs out to all the Emblems.

We know many of you may be concerned about what this means for Emblem3, but I can assure you this is just the beginning! Me and Keaton started this band when we were 9 and 11 years old and we will continue making music for our fans. We love you with all our heart. E3 has always been about a partnership of like minded musicians and we’re committed to continuing this journey alongside you all. And who knows, you may also start seeing some very familiar faces popping up :).

It’s somewhat of a surprise to get this announcement, given that this group was once coveted heavily by Simon Cowell, though we also think that he tried to change them at times into something different than what they actually are as a band.

Hopefully, this move will work out for all parties involved. We did always like some of the music that they made before the show, and what gives them hope for the future is that they were far more than a manufactured band in the first place: They play instruments, and can come up with their own music and lyrics.

For now, what is your reaction to Drew leaving, and are you especially surprised given the band did have some success following the show? Share below, and to get some more news worth singing about via email, sign up for our CarterMatt Newsletter.
