‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11: Patrick Dempsey readies for day of racing

Patrick Dempsey will most likely always be known to most courtesy of his role on “Grey’s Anatomy,” but there has always been much more to the actor than just that. He’s an investor, a businessman, and he has also been involved in the world of racing for more than a decade.

This is where we get to the rest of this story now, as this weekend he will be a part of the 24-hour race at Le Mans for the third time. He even previously had a series documenting some of his efforts in Le Mans on the Velocity network. Part of what may be appealing to him now about his work on “Grey’s Anatomy” is that the schedule is fairly locked in, and this allows him to be able to constantly mix it up and do some of his other pursuits during the offseason.

Patrick has of course been in Le Mans for a little while now, and speaking to the Associated Press, he made it clear that he expects big things from his team at the race this year:

“We want to win this race … We were like a minute 30 from being on the podium last year and to come so close, it’s a bit frustrating.”

So when will Patrick be on the set again for the hit ABC show? Think along the lines of later this summer. Typically, mid-to-late July is when the cast gets back to work the though the writers have already been trying to craft scripts for a while now. It is going to be an intense season for the Meredith / Derek relationship, so he better get in his time for rest and relaxation now.
