NBC making event series about The Beatles

NBC -

NBC has shown for better or worse over the years that they are risk-takers, and if you didn’t believe that, they certainly seem to be out to prove it with the latest news regarding them putting into motion an event series all about one of the most-popular bands of all time in The Beatles.

According to a new report from Deadline,  this will be an eight-episode project that already has an acclaimed writer on board in Michael Hirst (“The Tudors”), and also Ben Silverman and Teri Weinberg from the same show as executive producers.

Given what you are talking about here in the most iconic music group arguably of all time, expectations are going to be enormous for this project to deliver, and not just be another version of what NBC did to “Rosemary’s Baby.” We certainly understand the appeal here, but much of it is going to come down to casting and making sure that you have a network that is willing to tell the full story without any sort of frills or glossing it up for a family audience.

It may be a while before we actually have any more news on this project, though, given what NBC already has set up for the next 12 months or so. The fall schedule is already set in stone, and there are currently out there such limited series without a date including “A.D.,” the spiritual successor to “The Bible,” and also the revival series entitled “Heroes: Reborn.” We’d personally be happy to see the show in the summer of next year, mostly because it would give us something to talk about at this time.

Do you think that such a miniseries idea could work, or are we poised here for a surefire disaster? One way or another, we want to hear your thoughts below! Also, be sure to click here if you want further news and updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
