‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Andi Dorfman, Brian Osbourne’s movie date
As you can see in the synopsis for Monday night’s new episode, the show is not even bothering trying to hide the fact that Andi Dorfman and Brian Osbourne on their one-on-one date are going to be subjected to all sorts of product placement with a movie that is coming out later in the summer:
“Andi’s last one-on-one date is with Brian, who needs to prove he can make the first move. The couple attends an advanced private screening of the new DreamWorks Pictures, ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey,’ in theaters August 8. Our two potential soul mates, inspired by the movie, shop for ingredients for a romantic dinner at a French market. However, back in Andi’s flat, will the date boil over with chemistry or will it be put on the back burner?”
The fact that ABC bothered to put the release date for the film in the synopsis shows that they are just as gratuitous about this as they often are with showing men running around the show without wearing any clothes.
The one bit of silver lining here is that this is going to have a very hard time topping the “Survivor” – “Jack and Jill” challenge (or even “Prom Night” from our season of “Beauty and the Geek”) as the worst movie ever forced upon a reality TV cast. While we have no idea why there is a movie on here that isn’t out until August, or how something that seems like “Julie & Julia” meets “The Help” is supposed to be romantic, this is what the show is going with.
