‘Longmire’ season 3, episode 3 preview: Is Henry’s trial about to happen?

Tonight’s “Longmire” was a fairly-entertaining episode that focused on the Sheriff making sure that some bad people were taken care of, but we feel like as a whole, there really was not enough of the story with Henry behind bars to have us fully gripped.

Luckily, the promo that aired following tonight’s new episode teased that we could be seeing something so much greater coming in the form of a trial … or at least him in the courtroom. There is also a little bit of irony in here, given that the story appears to be split somewhat between watching the serious undertakings of this case, and then also witnessing Walt taking on a position as a very different sort of judge. Take a look at the synopsis below:

“Walt splits his time working on a murder investigation and serving as a judge for a local pageant; Cady hopes an old friend can help with Henry’s case.”

We do wonder when this story was first pitched in the writers room if it was done with any sort of knowledge that the show was going to end up airing near the Miss USA Pageant or not, but that is another nice little tie-in here. Hopefully there will be some good comedy here, given that the show has not quite had enough of it so far this season with all of the serious stuff going on.

All we just hope for is some great summer entertainment, especially since we feel like “Longmire” really needs to get its foot in the door and have people gripped before “Under the Dome,” its biggest ratings competitor, comes on the air.
