ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7: Nathan Fillion on Stana Katic scenes, ‘Firefly,’ more goodness

Veritas -Sometimes, we wonder whether or not Nathan Fillion ever sleeps, since it seems like the man manages to fill up his entire summer vacation with gigs, whether he is doing a short film, a feature, or just hitting the convention circuit hard to talk about his contributions to the geek community.

This trip took him to Phoenix this week, where he took many photos with fans and showed off some scruffy facial hair that has already led to some fans petitioning that he be allowed to keep it for “Castle” season 7.

In addition to all of this, Fillion also did a Q&A for fans, and touched on a variety of different topics.

  • When it comes to some of the steamier scenes with Stana Katic (who plays Kate Beckett), he claimed that one of the most awkward parts was the fact that the two had to film these moments with 20 people watching.
  • Fillion’s favorite themed episode is the one set at the sci-fi convention (entitled “The Final Frontier”), which has to also be in our top five favorites ever.
  • There were as always many sci-fi questions, and he discussed how Summer Glau would end up being the butt of many jokes. He also said that he didn’t have a favorite cast member, and hasn’t read all the comics.

Fillion may or may not know more about the future of the show, but that was not really discussed too much. Typically, these conventions are dominated by “Firefly” and “Dr. Horrible” questions. (There was maybe one “Castle” question in the entire Fan Expo panel we went to last year.)

One other highlight that we didn’t mention already? At one point, Fillion literally gave away a watch to a fan.
