‘Britain’s Got Talent’ final spoilers: Jon Clegg chosen as wildcard act
Silly us for thinking that “Britain’s Got Talent” was going to keep the identity of its wildcard act a secret until the show on Saturday.
In bucking a trend from some past seasons, it has been confirmed now that impressionist Jon Clegg will join magician Darcy Oake, singers Jack Pack, and so many others on the grand final for the show on Saturday. This is a name that we speculated about earlier this week, mostly because his first elimination was sad and the show does need variety in the last episode. There are no other comedy-related acts in there.
In a statement (per Digital Spy), Clegg had the following to say about getting another chance to win over the public:
“I’m on top of the world. I thought I was in with a chance but there were so many strong contenders. I thought Bailey [McConnell] had a good chance – he is hugely talented. Also Light Balance, Innova and Jodi. I’m actually working for the next few days but I’ll be rehearsing to make sure I’m 100% ready. My dad is absolutely over the moon. He’s so made up for me. Hopefully he’ll be able to come and see me perform on Saturday.”
Clegg’s father, who was on a similar competition decades ago, has been a big part of his story since the beginning.
Obviously as a wildcard (and especially one known mostly for doing impressions), Jon most likely knows that he does not have a substantial chance at winning. It is very difficult for someone in his position to do that. His goal should be more to just go out and audition for future gigs around Britain, and maybe land a TV job. If something further than that happens, it will just be a pleasant surprise. Still, we loved him personally as a performer and are very glad to see him back.
Of course, feel free to share your reaction to his return below, and sign up now to obtain some further TV updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
