CMT Music Awards 2014: Blake Shelton, Cassadee Pope, The Band Perry among winners
Tonight is already a big night for “The Voice” at the 2014 CMT Awards for a number of reasons. Season 4 winner Danielle Bradbery got a chance to perform a song leading into commercials, and now a former contestant from the show has scored one of the first major awards-show wins for it ever.
Cassadee Pope took home the Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Wasting All These Tears,” and while we realize that this is not the “top” video of the night, we’re a TV site and know this world so much more than we do that of music.
Take a look below at some of the winners so far, and we will have some more as the night progresses.
Breakthrough Video of the Year – Cassadee Pope (as we just said)
Male Video of the Year – Blake Shelton (ironically Cassadee’s coach on “The Voice”), “Doin’ What She Likes”
Group Video of the Year – The Band Perry (who has appeared as advisers on “The Voice”), “Done”
Performance of the Year – “Oh No / “All Night Long” – Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie
Collaborative Video of the Year – “This Is How We Roll” – Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan
Female Video of the Year – “Automatic” – Miranda Lambert
Duo Video of the Year – “Round Here” – Florida Georgia Line
Video of the Year – “See You Again,” Carrie Underwood
These are the major winners on the night, and you cannot be too shocked to see Carrie take the top prize. We’ve always found “See You Again” to be a little too sappy for our taste, but sometimes country music relies on these heartfelt stories. This one clearly connected.
