‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Will ABC air Andi Dorfman learning about Eric Hill’s death air?
Still, the show tried to handle it in the best way that they possibly could, and while you could argue that they left a little too much of the fight in, the interview with Andi later showed that there wasn’t too much ill will she had left over.
Now, there are other questions given that the story for him did not end following his departure. The show was still filming at the time the news broke that Eric had died in a paragliding accident, and the show had to inform Andi and the cast of this (most of the time, they are cut off from the outside world during production).
In his TV Guide interview after this episode, Chris Harrison said that they are “making decisions as we go. We’ll decide when we get there” when it comes to if the show will air anything regarding the contestants finding out the news. Base don the context of the question and his answer, it makes it sound like much of the news may have been delivered on-camera, but personally, we hope that the footage is not used. There is nothing further we are going to get out of watching people be devastated, and we don’t really feel like it adds anything to the story of the show giving us that in video form versus just editing in another little segment from Chris saying that the contestants were all informed of the news, and then have them talk a little about it as the rest of the season plays out. Having the original moment of them learning about the tragedy may be simply too raw.
