‘King of the Nerds’ season 3 official; TBS finally renews our favorite slice of nerdiness

Kind of the Nerds -TBS certainly kept us waiting for a long time to find out whether or not “King of the Nerds” season 3 was going to happen; luckily, many of us nerds have been used to waiting for a long time. Just remember some of the times you’ve been outside of GameStop at 11:00 p.m. waiting for the midnight launch of one of your favorites.

It was confirmed on Monday that the competition show, which has been casting for quite a while now, will be coming back for another season. We always perceived the early casting to be a sort of selling point to TBS that they could find good people who would make another edition of the show worthwhile.

The truth is, the show really should have larger ratings given everything it brings to the table. Robert Carradine and Curtis Armstrong are great hosts, the challenges are fun, and the contestants are diverse in their nerdiness and entertaining. Maybe it was the timeslot, it airing on a network in TBS whose nerdiness is only defined by “The Big Bang Theory,” or something else. Maybe word of mouth from an excellent season 2 will start to spread, and some more people will start to check out a great show. Even if you don’t understand “Star Trek” or know how to get a Gold Chocobo in “Final Fantasy 7,” there is still a lot of worthwhile entertainment here.

We’ll of course have some more updates on the third season when the time comes; we had a lot of fun this past season in between doing reviews, podcasts, rankings, and more, and we look forward to getting into it all over again.
