‘Silicon Valley’ finale review: Anatomy and Richard’s Pied Piper revelation
“Silicon Valley” is like watching one of those classic David vs. Goliath sports movies, but with tech masterminds rather than athletes. You have a team of heroes, and then a team of people who you would never believe would have a chance at winning in the end.
That is, after all, what makes the underdog story all the more endearing. This episode was funny, inspirational, surprising, and one of our favorite episodes of the entire series. Somehow, someway, Pied Piper managed to actually succeed. They won TechCrunch thanks to Richard being strangely inspired by a series of jokes about the male anatomy, and they suddenly have to momentum now to be able to have a successful company in the future. All it took was a successful test that looked at one moment to be very unsuccessful.
The one thing that made this victory and its season 2 aspirations all the better was the comedy that preceded it. Seeing Jared freak out as he tried to reposition Pied Piper was simply hysterical, just as the reaction by Erlich to finding out that he was actually going to be successful. We’ve grown to love these guys, and we’re glad to see that they won. The only disadvantage that came with this for Richard is that he’s not going to be able to date Monica now after she made the offer. But, he’s going to be rich!
What a fun conclusion to season 1, and after checking this out, we’re stoked to see what happens to Richard and company now that he has success. Grade: A.
