‘The Brady Bunch’ actress Ann B. Davis (housekeeper Alice Nelson) dead at 88

There’s some sad news coming out to start off June when it comes to one of TV’s legends.

Ann B. Davis, who played the role of housekeeper Alice Nelson on the beloved ABC series “The Brady Bunch,” died in the Texas home she shared with a couple. She was 88 years old. Reports are that Davis was fairly healthy for her age before surprisingly falling in her bathroom and never regaining consciousness.

Obviously when you look at some of the greatest comedies in TV history, “The Brady Bunch” is near the top of the list. The show ran from 1969 until 1974, and Davis appeared in all 117 episodes of the series alongside Florence Henderson, Christopher Knight, and many others. She is the second major cast member of the show to pass away, as Robert Reed died back in 1992.

As for Davis’ other acting work, she appeared prior to the start of “The Brady Bunch” on multiple episodes of “The John Forsythe Show.” However, after the sitcom’s completion she was not credit for many other roles away from the series. She did appear in multiple variety specials saluting the series, though, in addition to some reunions and even a cameo in the 1995 movie. Like many other stars of the show, she became so iconic for this role that she became synonymous with it.

We are sure that there will be some tributes related to Davis coming out in the weeks ahead, and hopefully some “Brady Bunch” marathons here and there. Even though this is not a series that you necessarily think of every second of the day, it’s one that has a deep sense of nostalgia for everyone that grew up in that era. That is one of the reasons that the franchise was revived with a movie decades ago.

Ultimately, Davis will be missed. Thoughts go out to her friends and loved ones.
