ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: Tony Goldwyn on Fitz, Mellie’s future

The third season of “Scandal” was a trip, and we have no reason to think that season 4 will continue on this trend and then some. For some further evidence of that, you really don’t have to look any further than at what Tony Goldwyn is saying now.

The man behind President Fitzgerald Grant recently sat down with GoldDerby for a far-ranging interview on the Emmys and beyond, and explained the sort of ambiguity and excitement that comes with the understanding that Fitz and Mellie now have with each other. They’ve went through tragedy now in the loss of a child, but they have also landed in a strange place courtesy of how much they both understand Olivia Pope’s importance in their world. Here is just a snippet of what Goldwyn had to say:

“They’re kind of more bonded than they’ve ever been in a funny way, but Olivia in their minds is an essential component in that. They’ve transcended into some new place I think, not that they won’t backside. I don’t know what the hell Fitz is going to think when he finds out Olivia’s disappeared.”

This really is just a tiny sample, and we recommend strongly checking out the full interview if you have the time. Tony is bar-none one of the most intelligent actors to listen to in TV. He brings in such a sense of passion, and also an appreciated for his work. This is not the sort of thing that you see all of the time in these interviews.

“Scandal” does not have a season 4 premiere date yet, but you can probably think along the lines of October.
