‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: Will Donal Logue return in some capacity?
In some ways, we understand that it’s a little early to start hammering out the details regarding season 16 of “Law & Order: SVU.” After all, the show just wrapped things up for the 15th go-around, and the writers are not even together yet crafting stories to put on the air next.
So when it comes to the potential return of many beloved actors, the jury is very much still out. Take, for example, Donal Logue. The actor has had a nice little recurring gig this spring helping to fill in after the William Lewis incident, but some new circumstances (i.e. a role on the Fox show “Gotham”) are going to make it very hard for him to return. However, showrunner Warren Leight told TV Guide recently that there will be chances for him to return in the event that everything lines up.
Ultimately, we feel the same way here about Munch, who had an appearance during the finale as he helped to find a way to get charges dropped against Nick Amaro. The show has such a rich tapestry of people out there that they can choose to hire and bring back, and it just has to try and figure out when are the best opportunities to utilize all of them.
For now, let’s just wait for the official confirmation that Mariska Hargitay is returning (there hasn’t been any suggestion that she will do anything otherwise), and then start to think about where the show could go from here now that Benson is a mother.

Shoot! Bring’em all back! Stabler, Munch, Novack, etc etc….. I watch the reruns all the time. Such good memories. It would be nice even for just 1 or 2 episodes

I hope it doesn’t take Olivia away from the show being on SVU and not revolve around her being a mother. Want Liv to be happy would love her to be in another relationship better still Brian to come back which he won’t and love to see Murphy again

I’d want Chris Meloni back as Elliot Stabler and Stephanie March back as ADA Alex Cabot. It would definitely put some more interesting events in place. <3

The current ADA is probably paid a lot less money than either Jane March(Cabot) or Diane Neal(Novak) would be looking for to return to the show. I can’t say that as fact, but Dick Wolf is trying to keep the costs on the show down. If either of them were willing to work for the same amount of money per episode as the current ADA is making, I would take them back in a heartbeat. I think Dick Wolf might too, though I can’t say for sure.

I would like to see Stephanie March return as ADA Cabot. We got a glimpse of Cabot and Novak in season 13 but no word as to why they left again. Also, Cutter is suppose to be Bureau Chief, would be nice to see him around in some capacity.
Lt. Murphy Rocks!

Donal Logue brought SO much life back to SVU—they HAVE to bring him back. I was crushed when he left at the end of the season 15 and was hoping he would be on all of season 16.

There is going to be a Season 16. The show was renewed a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, Donal Logue will be leaving to play Commissioner Gordon in the new GOTHAM series on Fox this fall. No replacement has been named. Since everybody’s contract is up after Season 16, Let’s hope the ratings continue to stay this great so that they will re-sign everyone for a Season 17.
