2014 Billboard Music Awards: Imagine Dragons, Justin Timberlake, Lorde among winners (list)
The 2014 Billboard Music Awards featured some of the biggest stars in music right now, and of course, there were also a number of winners to boot. This list will be updated throughout the night, and while we’re not a music site, we’ll at least try to offer up at least some thoughts on the victors as their names are revealed.
Rock Album – Imagine Dragons, “Night Visions.” This is going to be a recurring theme for the next 12 months. there are not a whole lot of rock albums out there right now that have a ton of sales, and get the sort of play they do across the radio.
Billboard 200 Album – Justin Timberlake, “The 20/20 Experience” Even Justin’s acceptance speeches are cool, and somewhat performed in song. (Timberlake also won the Top Artist award.)
New Artist – Lorde. This speech was a little awkward, mostly because we feel like she really wanted it to be serious, and everyone in the audience was more interesting in laughing along with it.
Top R&B Song and Top 100 Song – Robin Thicke, “Blurred Lines.” Somehow, this song managed to still have enough steam to carry into the episode tonight.
Top Country Artist – No surprise here. After all, almost everyone loves Luke within the world of country music.
Top Country Song – Florida Georgia Line, “Cruise.” This song has sold millions upon millions, so you cannot be that shocked by this.
Top Streaming Artist – Miley Cyrus. Anything that involves getting buzz online is something that Miley is almost sure to win.
Milestone Award – Carrie Underwood. It’s certainly hard to argue over whether or not she is deserving of this one.
