‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 2 spoilers: Meet Benjamin Franklin!
How is it possible that Ichabod Crane had so many great connections with figures at the time of the American Revolution? Maybe it is a little bit of luck, but regardless, we are very pleased to report that “Sleepy Hollow” is bringing forth another significant figure on their upcoming second season in Benjamin Franklin.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Timothy Busfield of “The West Wing” is going to recur throughout season 2 as this man, who is going to have his own dynamic with Tom Mison’s character similar to what we saw in the first year from George Washington. Executive producer Mark Goffman had the following to say about this in a chat with Entertainment Weekly:
“Last season, we created this history between Ichabod and George Washington that talked about this secret war that was part of the American Revolution … This season, we’re continuing that and expanding on it with other characters. Benjamin Franklin is great because we are all familiar with so many of his contributions and now we get to pull back the veil a bit. This man founded the printing press and was responsible for so many [innovations] and now we find out he’s involved in this secret war and that Crane had a relationship with him. I’ve read several biographies of Franklin and we’re teeing off on some of his precociousness and eccentricities.”
Franklin should be a very interesting addition to the show, given that he is not someone who is going to charge into the field of battle and do a whole lot of killing. Rather, he is a much more intellectual character, who may make it his primary responsibility to work behind the scenes and contribute to causes.
