NBC’s ‘The Voice’ spoilers: What Christina Grimmie, Sisaundra Lewis, Josh Kaufman sill sing
Tonight, the top 8 will perform on “The Voice” for a night that could prove to be either very predictable or shocking, but before we come to the start of the show, why not take a minute or two now to discuss just what some of these songs are going to be?
For the second straight week, there are some good choices in here, but also some that are completely miserable and almost guarantee that a singer will be in danger. (These choices come to us courtesy of Mjsbigblog.)
Delvin Choice, “I Believe I Can Fly” (Team Adam) – Terrible choice, and a completely unoriginal one. There are no reasons to think this will get him through to the next phase of the competition.
Christina Grimmie, “How To Love” (Team Adam) – Another song from an artist who is primarily known for hip-hop. We’re feeling pretty confident that Christina will still come close to the top of the iTunes chart with this one.
Kat Perkins, “Get Lucky” (Team Adam) – It’s a great song and a big risk for Kat, but one that will almost surely work out well for her if she can pull it off. She needed to do something current and something fun.
Jake Worthington, “Hillbilly Deluxe” (Team Blake) – Well, you probably saw this one coming. Another straightforward country cover.
Audra McLaughlin, “Forgive” (Team Blake) – There’s not much to write about here, either, with Audra. Odds are that she will sing it well and sell records on iTunes, but that is about it.
Sisaundra Lewis, “River Deep, Mountain High” (Team Blake) – This is the sort of song that can be overdone, but we feel like Sisaundra could do a very good job with it. It may also help her that it is a fun one that people can sing along with.
Josh Kaufman, “I Can’t Make You Love Me” (Team Usher) – We go both ways with this. It’s not something so original that he will expose it to the world, but it does suit the emotional vulnerability in Josh’s voice.
Kristen Merlin, “I Drive Your Truck” (Team Shakira) – Well, she’s back to singing country music again! This should be a competent performance.
We’ll be back later with our full review of this week’s show, and you can read more about it over at the link here. Also, be sure to sign up for more courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter.
