NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 7: Pharrell Williams, Gwen Stefani talk joining show
Tonight on “The Voice,” you are going to see the remaining eight contestants all take the stage in an effort to win over America’s votes; in addition to that, though, you are also going to get an opportunity to see performances from two new members of the show’s family in Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams. They are replacing Shakira and Usher, and could be a part of the series for a rather extensive time to come.
So what sort of advice in particular did Pharrell want to hand down in this position? Speaking to “The Today Show” this morning, he suggested that he wants to enforce a style of individualism rather than try to change the contestants into something that they are not:
“My advice is always gonna have a consistent thread of, ‘Be you — if it doesn’t work for this show, that’s okay,’ … You’ll see what Gwen and I do — we’re gonna take a slightly different approach. All we’re gonna do is hold up the mirror and show people how rad they are already.”
These two artists actually have a history together that dates all the way back to Gwen’s single “Hollaback Girl,” and that means instant chemistry. Both have decades of experience, and given that Pharrell has collaborated with almost everyone under the sun, we would almost be more interested in picking him as a coach than either Blake Shelton or Adam Levine. You know that he will do everything in his power to ensure that you are successful.
