Ratings watch: Latest on ‘Resurrection’ season 2, ‘The Mentalist’ season 7 possibilities
As we get closer and closer to the upfront presentations this year, this does lead to us getting a chance to go more in-depth when it comes to shows on the bubble. Some of the news below is going to be welcome to you; however, there is also going to be some of it that is not.
“Resurrection” – Over on ABC, it feels like the supernatural drama has all but cemented its second season by rising up to a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic for the finale. While this is by no means “smash hit” status, the network’s not going to cancel a show that fared better on average than almost every other drama not named “Grey’s Anatomy” or “Scandal,” even if it fell in recent weeks.
“Revenge” – Hey, it won the 10:00 p.m. hour … even if it was just with a 1.3 rating. We still feel like a renewal for season 4 is going to happen, whether it be for syndication purposes or just for pleasing fans.
“The Mentalist” – It may get more than 8.5 million viewers (which is more than 50% higher than “Revenge”), but the 1.2 in the demo is bad for CBS. It’s already syndicated and isn’t produced in-house like that show is on ABC, either … signaling trouble. At this point, the show’s best hope could be if another network like TNT or ABC picks it up.
“Believe” and “Crisis” – Neither one of these shows is coming back. 1.0 ratings are terrible for rookie series, and they’d be even worse if they ended up coming back for another season. NBC’s not this desperate for drama series anymore.
We’ll have some further updates from some other shows throughout the week, so stay tuned for of that. Also, be sure to sign up for some further TV updates courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter. These will come to your email every Sunday.
