‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7, episode 23 preview: Leonard and Penny’s future
While “The Big Bang Theory” Thursday night was mostly about Star Wars Day and the return of Professor Proton, there was also another important thread dropped in here that perhaps will carry over into next week’s new episode “The Gorilla Dissolution”: The relationship between Leonard and Penny.
Just before the end of the season, the good buzz is starting to spread again regarding the “will they or won’t they?” dynamic when it comes to if they will get engaged. They played around with it tonight, but they didn’t decide to take that jump yet. Next week may be another opportunity, and the short synopsis suggests that something when it comes to their relationship could be on the table again:
“A bad day causes Penny to reevaluate her life choices – including Leonard. Meanwhile, Howard and Bernadette struggle to care for Mrs. Wolowitz, and Raj gets relationship advice from Sheldon.”
If there is another step coming for Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and Johnny Galecki’s characters, is it too much to ask that the moment is as romantic as possible? So often with this show, these to find their pleasure or their progression in cynical moments. Seeing a change-up that places them in an abnormal setting would nice. Plus, given the history of botched proposals for both parties here, it feels almost like the right course of action here would be to put the two characters in a position where neither party is really capable of saying no.
In addition to the relationship, the final two episodes are also going to also focus on Sheldon finding out his next big move when it comes to his career, and Raj figuring out if he can make a long-term relationship work.
