‘Glee’ season 5: Naya Rivera rep claims she was not fired from Fox series
The story regarding Naya Rivera and her future on “Glee” just gets more and more confusing with each passing minute.
Over the past 48 hours, stories have started to spread like wildfire that the actress was fired from the show following a series of alleged incidents on-set, including a rumored dispute with co-star Lea Michele. When we reported about this, we made the distinction to say that this didn’t necessarily mean that she was fired, but there were strong reports out there that she had been written out of the finale, and was at one point going to be a part of it. Since that time, there has been more evidence that something is amiss on the show. Gossip Cop even reported that her trailer on the set has been cleaned out, and that her future is unclear.
Now, Naya’s representative has issued the following statement per The Hollywood Reporter, denying claims that the show forcibly let the actress go:
“Any reports or rumors circulating that Naya Rivera was let go or fired from Glee are absolutely untrue. End of story.”
But is that really the end of the story? It’s doubtful. If she does end up leaving the show, we’re sure that it will be handled in a matter that is much more graceful than tabloid reports, such as statements suggesting that an exit is mutual or something along the lines. Clearly, there is something amiss here no matter how you spin it. You don’t have this many reports out there, coupled with being gone from the last episode of the season that featured the return of your onscreen love interest (played by Heather Morris), unless there is something brewing behind the scenes. This doesn’t mean that there is a firing, but this is not business as usual.
