‘Dancing with the Stars’ 18: Danica McKellar breaks ribs; future in question
The “Dancing with the Stars” bug is a real thing, and it is not too difficult to understand why it exists in the first place. These people are doing something athletic, and thanks to that, there are of course many moments where it is difficult and real injuries can happen.
The latest person feeling the pain is none other than Danica McKellar, who posted on her Twitter account that she has suffered some broken ribs. Does that mean that she is out of the competition? Not necessarily. These are the sort of injuries that you can potentially work through, but it really all depends just on how much pain they cause her to be in while moving around. If she isn’t able to go, the decision will probably not be announced until the show itself airs come Monday night. After all, the show is not traditionally interested in giving away much away early when they can get viewers based on it later.
If Danica does go, will the show be losing a title contender? Yes and go. She’s a talented dancer, but her biggest issue is merely coming on a season where there are so many fantastic female dancers. Meryl Davis and Amy Purdy are the two strongest in the competition right now by our estimation, and we would even go so far as to say that the latter is the favorite. You may not have heard of her before this season started, but she is an extremely likable person, an inspiration, and also can put up good scores like anyone else.
We’ll keep you updated with more on Danica’s condition as it becomes available. Meanwhile, sign up now if you are curious in getting some more updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter. We’ll also have our latest review up Friday night.
