‘Saturday Night Live’: Charlize Theron, Andy Samberg to host final episodes
For those expecting this season of “Saturday Night Live” to end with a familiar host stopping by, we have some news now that is probably going to make you smile from ear to ear.
The May 17 season finale of the show this year is going to be hosted by none other than former cast member Andy Samberg, who has made a number of repeat appearances on the show but never in this role. He will joined by none other than St. Vincent, who is making her debut appearance as musical guest. What is interesting to us about Andy as a host is that he was never the sort of performer who showed up in many live sketches. He was known more for his Digital Shorts, and we’re sure that this segment is probably going to be revived thanks to him being present for the occasion. His skits with The Lonely Island, which include “D**k in a Box” and “Captain Jack Sparrow,” are among the biggest viral hits that “SNL” has ever had.
For the record, we do feel like some other former cast members will stop by in time. Kristen Wiig was the exception rather than the rule last as someone who appeared less than a year after leaving. Next year, we full-on anticipate a Bill Hader return. We don’t know if either Fred Armisen or Jason Sudeikis will ever host, but there will at least be some cameos.
As for some other news, Charlize Theron is going to host the May 10 edition of the show, which will feature a performance from none other than The Black Keys for the third time on the show.
