‘Agents of SHIELD’ episode 20 preview: First video of Cobie Smulders’ return!

If you love “Agents of SHIELD” or Cobie Smulders, it is pretty easy to get excited about what is coming up on ABC next week. Maria Hill is back! It is perfect time given the dissolution of  SHIELD as we know it, and she will get a chance to do some pretty exciting stuff alongside Coulson..

Before we do anything else, take a look at the official synopsis from ABC:

“Just when there’s no one left to trust, Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) — from ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ and ‘Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Solider’ — returns to team up with Coulson as SHIELD is being destroyed around them.”

Will Cobie stick around the rest of the season? There is no word on that, but we have to file it as “doubtful” much in the same way that we don’t think that the end of “How I Met Your Mother” necessarily means that she will be a regular here. However, she is a big part of the Marvel universe with multiple movie appearances, and that means likely more opportunities to stop by whenever she is called for.

Plus, we feel like there is a certain value in having an agent turn up from time to time on the show without them being a member of Coulson’s regular team. It allows for a different flavor to be brought in on occasion, and it is a nice liaison from some parts of the Marvel universe. This particular group can only handle so much, and it’s a crazy world out there.
