‘Call the Midwife’ season 4: Who could be in the running to host game show?
The actors of “Call the Midwife” have certainly proven themselves over time to be multi-talented … but we also have to admit that the following is not a gig we particularly saw coming for any of them while watching the most-recent season on the BBC.
According to a report from the Mirror, Miranda Hart (Chummy) has been in some discussions to revive the classic British game show “The Generation Game,” which at one point had a massive share of the viewing public with 20 million viewers. (If you think that is unheard of for American shows these days, it’s even more insane in a much smaller country.)
Here is what the tabloid’s source had to say about a potential revival:
“Everyone is excited about this happening. Miranda is a great fan of the original show and she has made no secret of her admiration for Sir Bruce [Forsyth]. It could be a match made in telly heaven.”
So could Hart find the time to really host this? The good thing about “Call the Midwife” is that thanks to the limited episode count (which is eight hours, plus a Christmas Special most of the time), it doesn’t take all year to shoot the show. Plus, you can film game shows in a brisk fashion unless you choose to make them live thanks to same-day shoots that last multiple hours.
Given that Hart is a very funny lady and that game shows are poised to make a comeback at some point (it’s been a while since there has been a big one), we fully endorse the idea of this show … at least so long as we still have Chummy on the BBC hit. We’ve already (spoiler alert!) lost Jessica Raine, so dropping another regular at this point would be devastating.
