NBC’s ‘The Voice’ rankings: Is Christina Grimmie, Bria Kelly, or Sisaundra Lewis the favorite?

The Voice -Remember when us singing-show fans were complaining about women never getting a fair stake of the voting from fans? Things have clearly turned around on “The Voice.” A woman has won for three straight seasons now, and in looking at the top 12 right now, it’s pretty easy to believe that the streak will be up to four. Two-thirds of the artists remaining are women, and three of them in particular are some fantastic that they have a nice lead over the rest of the competition.

For now, we’re ranking the artists based on screen time, performance quality, and also their coach. It may not be that fair, but history shows that some are more successful getting votes than others.

12. T.J. Wilkins (Team Usher) – The singer most like Usher on his team didn’t fare that well last year, and we just barely remember T.J. right now after a few weeks into the competition. What does that mean for his chances will all of America this week? It’s going to be tough.

11. Kristen Merlin (Team Shakira) – Being a country singer that is not on Blake’s team is tough. Being one when Blake already has two country singers is even tougher. Kristen’s struggle will be finding people who aren’t necessarily big country fans who want to still support her.

10. Kat Perkins (Team Adam) – Juliet Simms is the standard for all female rockers on the show, but given that Kat Robichaud didn’t go that deep in the season last fall, this Kat could face similar trouble unless she finds some great songs and really stands out with them right away.

9. Tess Boyer (Team Shakira) – A big-time dark horse, and out of the people we’ve ranked 12-8, she has the best chance of actually making a late run at winning. She just has to find a way to deliver something that does more than just prove she can sing. She needs more personality and a platform. If she can find that and not be forgotten, watch out.

8. Jake Worthington (Team Blake) – Even if Blake doesn’t win, his acts generally have an easy time of making it through the first couple live shows thanks to his fan base. Jake’s also a country artist, and being the only guy with that sort of sensibility is going to help tremendously.

7. Audra McLaughlin (Team Blake) – It’s very well possible that Audra comes out on the live shows, gets a ton of iTunes sales like Danielle Bradbery, and makes us feel very silly for ranking her here. Any young, female country singer on Blake’s team is a threat.

6. Delvin Choice (Team Adam) – We haven’t quite been all about Delvin in the same way that Adam has, mostly because his songs need to be a bit predictable. But, what this guy has going for him is a solid voice, a ton of charisma, and stage presence. If he works the audience well, he could go a long way in the live shows.

5. Dani Moz (Team Shakira) – We were first sad about her beating Clarissa Serna, but then she came out and proved herself with “The Edge of Glory.” She’s the most artistic person on Shakira’s team, and while she will have a challenge standing out with the other ladies in the mix, she’s capable of great things.

4. Josh Kaufman (Team Usher) – Probably one of our favorites of the entire competition, but recognize that compared to the three ladies below, he is fairly under-the-radar. His big key to success will be finding songs that he can connect with, since he’s not going to match the ladies in range or hitting big notes. He’s going to have to be creative.

3. Bria Kelly (Team Usher) – Occasionally gets into “shouty” territory, but she has a great talent, has a history on talent shows, and has been given a lot of airtime over the course of the season. With the right mentoring from Usher, she could be a Michelle Chamuel darkhorse to take the title.

2. Sisaundra Lewis (Team Blake) – Let’s see her. Sisaundra is the most-popular singer on Blake’s team, she has a huge voice, and people from Blake’s team always tend to do very well. She’s got a heck of a resume to go far in the competition. The only thing that she really has working against her is the fact that she is a little polarizing, and we question Blake’s understanding of her genre compared to what he knows about country. Look back at the sort of songs he gave to Jermaine Paul.

1. Christina Grimmie (Team Adam) – We understand the criticism and the complaints from everyone out there that she’s “too famous” already for the show, and her follower count gives her an advantage. But, this isn’t “the search for the next undiscovered talent.” It’s “The Voice.” Were she coming out and puking garbage on the stage every week, we’d be upset if she was a favorite. But she has been great with every performance, and that coupled with her following make her the one to watch out for.
