‘Sherlock’ season 4: The latest (possible) gig for Benedict Cumberbatch
Get ready to stop us when this one sounds familiar: Someone wants to hire Benedict Cumberbatch do so something.
So what is it this time around? Think along the lines of him playing the role of Ian Fleming in an upcoming biopic about the popular James Bond author. This story first started to spread via The Talking Board, and of course the British tabloids are now running amok with it. We certainly would understand why a possible project would want the “Sherlock” star on board. The man is practically everywhere these days, and is extremely popular with viewers all around the board.
Of course, the problem here is the same exact problem that there is with hiring Cumberbatch to do almost any project: It’s hard to nail the guy down right now. He has multiple other movie jobs, in addition to the fact that he is going back to the stage next year. Then, there’s also season 4 of the BBC hit. Everyone may want to do it, but there is still a waiting game in order to figure out whether or not it will happen. We understand that it must be truly frustrating to have to wait until near the end of “Doctor Who” production to find out more information, but that’s what we believe is probably happening here.
While you are waiting for more “Sherlock,” you at least have some new opportunities to catch Martin Freeman on the FX series “Fargo” starting this week. We have yet to review the premiere episode here at CarterMatt, but all the buzz out there about the episode has been pretty tremendous.
