‘Agents of SHIELD’ spoilers: More details on Cobie Smulders’ return

“Agents of SHIELD” needs something at this point to boost its figures, and who knows? Maybe bringing back one of their popular characters from two of the recent movies will do the trick!

For the first time since the controversial (or “epic disappointment,” as we would call it) finale to “How I Met Your Mother,” Cobie Smulders is appearing on a scripted TV show on Tuesday, April 29 for an episode entitled “Nothing Personal.” Unfortunately, the show is not particularly willing to get that personal when it comes to sharing details of what lies ahead. Instead, ABC handed out a synopsis today that is certainly more than a little bit vague:

“Just when there’s no one left to trust, Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) — from ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ and ‘Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Solider’ — returns to team up with Coulson as S.H.I.E.L.D. is being destroyed around them.”

There are two things that we really take away from this above all else. First of all, Marvel really likes to remind you constantly that their properties are Marvel properties … seriously. just in case any of you forget. A little obnoxious? The answer that you may be looking for here is “definitely.” This is one of the most obnoxious things ever.

Also, it looks like the producers definitely intend on trying to milk this HYDRA story for all it’s worth, and we cannot blame them given that they must be hoping that people who saw it in the movie and enjoyed it will come over to “Agents of SHIELD” and see what they are doing with it. If this show was just a little more consistently strong, what they are doing right now could be construed as brilliant and earth-shattering.

What do you think about all of this? Sound off below.
