‘The Mentalist’ season 6, episode 17 preview: Patrick Jane plays date detective

For all of you out there (and we know that there are many) who want to see Jane and Lisbon just get together on “The Mentalist” already, perhaps the new sneak peek below is for you.

In this video, the primary order of business is Patrick Jane playing a different sort of detective than the one that he is accustomed to. Specifically, he’s going to try to get to the bottom of what in the world is going on with Lisbon’s dating life. She’s still seeing Agent Pike, and maybe there’s a part of Patrick’s brain that freaks out at the thought of it. However, he for some reason is still hesitant to just come out and admit to having feelings for her. What harm would really come of it? Mostly, it’s a blow to Jane’s bizarre sense of ego.

At this point, it’s starting to become at least reasonably obvious that the writers are going in a direction where some feelings will have to be addressed … and it’s about time! If there were no moments at all coming up regarding what Jane’s true feelings are, why in the world would there be so many sneak peeks and teases out there all about this Pike guy? Given that we only met the guy just under two weeks ago, it’s not like we know every detail there is to know about him … and we’re so hardcore in the Jane / Lisbon camp that it’s hard to care to.
