‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Paul Wesley on Stefan dealing with Elena, Damon

“The Vampire Diaries” is a show that has long relief on a few simple things: Vampires, violence, and romance. So long as there will be a show, you have to assume that Stefan is going to be a part of it … and there is always a possibility that he could get back with his ex Elena.

Paul Wesley is well aware of all this, given that he has been a part of the show since the beginning, and taken part in quite a few romantic scenes with Nina Dobrev’s character in the process. Speaking on the subject to TVLine, the actor made it clear that Stefan has “made peace” with the fact that his brother is now with her, but also added that there are still “residual feelings” that are there. We read this as a possible suggestion that the romance is not necessarily dead, and if an opportunity does arise in the future, we cannot rule this out.

The one thing that we are certainly want to see from the Stefan moving forward, and that is a romance that is independent of her. Even if he is not with Caroline, why not introduce someone else who he could be with for a while? We want to see the character happy, and it is also possible that he could find that sort of happiness and stability with someone else out there. If he could find Elena, he could find someone else.
