‘Sherlock’ season 4: Benedict Cumberbatch’s schedule just got even busier

Another day, and another commitment to keep Benedict Cumberbatch very busy moving forward. If you are desperate to see “Sherlock” season 4 on the air at some point in the future, we could understand if you are feeling pretty conflicted about this at the moment. You want to see the actor have a chance to do other great things, but of course, you also want to see more of your beloved show at the same time.

Well, what we can at least tell you right now that Cumberbatch has signed on for something new that will take place in the summer / fall of 2015. Specifically he will take part in a 12-week run (including six weeks of rehearsals) playing the lead role in “Hamlet” at the Barbican Theatre in London. According to the Daily Mail, Lyndsey Turner is going to step into the role as director for the production. Benedict has made many appearances on the stage over the years, with one of his most notable ones being a production of “Frankenstein” directed by Danny Boyle.

If you are worried for whatever reason that this could keep Benedict away from doing “Sherlock” season 4, don’t be. This play shouldn’t have that much of an impact at all, given that there are so many other ways to structure filming for the show. The primary hangup right now is ensuring that Steven Moffat has time to work on some more scripts, being that he is at the moment hard at work on the latest season of “Doctor Who” starring Peter Capaldi. He will be through with production there at some point during the summer.
