TV quick hits: ‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 5 news, ‘Walking Dead’ syndication, James Roday comedy

The first thing we want to touch on in this edition of TV Quick Hits is that for those of you interesting in seeing how “Rizzoli & Isles” chooses to address the shocking death of Lee Thompson Young, you are going to see that very early on in the upcoming fifth season.

On the heels of the show’s season 4 finale, series star Angie Harmon posted on Twitter that the first two episodes of the new season (premiering on June 17) will honor Lee with “love” and “respect.” The writers obviously wanted to ensure that they had proper time to give him the full tribute that he deserved, and not something that felt rushed to put into season 4.

Young committed suicide last year in what was a story that rocked the entire show community.

“Walking Dead” syndication – How is this for a change-up? According to Deadline, a broadcast network in MyNetworkTV has bought up off-network rights to the AMC hit, and will air them this fall in two-episode bunches, one night a week. The episodes will be from the first three seasons.

The reason that this is mostly a surprise is because it is hardly normal tradition for a broadcast network to syndicate something from cable. It’s generally the other way around.

“Tracey Ullman joins “Good Session” – While CBS may not have many holes in their fall schedule, we hope that “Good Session” makes it. The show stars James Roday (“Psych”) as a married guy who thinks are good with he and his wife, but he soon realizes that there is a surprising number of issues that need to be worked out. We already knew that Rich Sommer of “Mad Men” was on board to play a friend, and now TV legend Tracey Ullman has been cast as the therapist.

Ullman is coming off of an appearance on “How I Met Your Mother,” where she played (spoiler alert!) Robin’s long-absent mom.
