‘Psych’ series finale preview: What to expect from ‘The Break-Up’
If you are a major fan of “Psych,” you better be ready to get your emotional on. After an extensive, glorious run on television that lasted a full eight seasons, the show will be ending next week with “The Break-Up.” That’s not the sort of title that you want to see for a show that has been around this long … and has characters that are actually capable of breaking up.
It’s hard to really say too much about this episode without giving some things away, so we’re going to go the largely spoiler-free route. What we can say is that Maggie Lawson will be back for this grand send-off to the series, and one of the issues that will be dealt with very quickly is whether or not Shawn is going to be able to move forward in his relationship with Juliet, or possibly consider moving to be with. In between his father selling his house and the entire structure of the Santa Barbara Police Department changing, it is pretty fair to say that change is all around for these characters.
But is this finale really going to be the end for the show? In the age of Kickstarter, that is something we still wonder about. We could see a universe where there is something else created down the line, especially in the event that the ending feels rushed or unsatisfactory. The diehard fan base is certainly there, given that Psych-Os (as they like to call themselves as a term of endearment) have followed the show to many different nights of the schedule, and also did what they could to ensure that the word got out that there was this little funny show worth watching.
We’re going to miss “Psych,” which is precisely why we are getting ready to show off all sorts of great coverage for it here at CarterMatt. Over the next few days, we will have stories that include our favorite episodes ever, and more possibilities for life beyond the show.
