NBC’s ‘The Voice’ review: Brittnee Camelle, Melissa Jimenez, Clarissa Serna, and more shine

The Voice -

For its second night of “The Voice” Battle Rounds, NBC gave us … three full performances, and then also a little montage. Seriously, can we have some more performances within the span of an hour? We don’t really think that it is too much to ask.

Well, despite this being a pretty short episode, we at least still got some entertainment here. We’re diving into these battles in chronological order, and then share our take of each one.

Clarissa Serna vs. Delvin Briggs, “Cold As Ice” (Team Shakira) – This episode reminded us very much of the one that we saw last night with Sisaundra on Team Blake. Why? Clarissa was a favorite, and there was almost no way at all that we were going to see anyone defeat her. The same goes here for Clarissa. She had this from start to finish. Shakira picks Clarissa, and there is no steal.

Caleb Elder vs. Delvin Choice, “The Man” (Team Adam) – A much more interesting battle, but we feel like Adam made it very hard by forcing these two to sing something by the adviser in the room in Aloe Blacc. These guys are also very different, and while we thought there was a little more music in the former, we cannot deny that Adam made a good choice for an actual singing competition. Adam picks Delvin, and no steal.

Brittnee Camelle vs. Melissa Jimenez, “Give It To Me Right” (Team Usher) – It was obvious that this “dramatic” battle was going to lead to a steal. Lo and behold, this was right! It also was probably more obvious by the fact that it was the last battle. Great singing all around here, and also some pretty huge notes to boot. Personally, though, we felt like Usher made the right choice, and then Brittnee made a good move picking Adam after he stole her. Episode Grade: B-.
