‘True Detective’ episode 8 (finale) preview: ‘Form and Void,’ and a key to the case
It was only a matter of weeks ago that we were first introduced to the magic that is HBO’s “True Detective,” and now, we are looking at the end squarely in the face. Next week marks the conclusion for the “limited event” featuring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, and the story all comes back to one question: How is this story going to end?
While we learned a variety of new information about the Tuttle family and about some possible new suspects in the case during tonight’s episode, there is still plenty of room that is still open for the story to veer off in any which-way. This episode is going to in particular present you with a new lead that could alter the entire course of the case … and maybe even provide some answers. This is at least according to a very-small synopsis that was released by HBO.
One thing that we can for certain promise you right now is that there will be no continuation of this case until a season 2. “True Detective” is meant to be an isolated story, though there could be another entry of the anthology in the future featuring new actors and a new story.
The preview for this new episode focused most of its time and effort on showing us little glimpses of the man who could be a killer, and Martin and Rust really going all out in order to find the killer. This means going as far as to point guns, threaten, and break the law a little bit for the greater good. This show be one heck of an explosive conclusion.

But, Maggie is starting to creep me out now that she is older and in this expensive home.

No not Maggie or the father. I always did wonder about that lawn mowing man.

The lawn mower guy does have what seems to be burns but definitely a lot of scaring on his face around his mouth and chin. I never for a second thought that Maggie or her father had any involvement but I’m not convinced that Marty’s oldest daughter Audrey doesn’t play a role in affiliating with people in those circles. I doubt she commits any wrong doings but she knows these people. How did she get to be the person she is?? Where did she go to school as a little girl? Who are the families of her classmates? It’s very possible all the disturbing things that Audrey did was from what she’s seen while at a friends house when she was a little girl

I still think Maggie’s father has a part in all this. Maybe even Maggie. What’s with her asking Rust questions about his business? I couldn’t tell if the lawn mower man had scars around his face or not. Anyone? In the preview it looked as though the bar owner where Rust ‘works’ jumps in on the action as a sniper. Can’t tell what side he his on. Damn this show is good!

I also still think Maggie’s family is involved. She sure has a richer looking lifestyle now than when she was with Marty. Talk about people in high places. And I agree that she was overly eager to head on down to Rust’s bar. Something is just unsettling about her and I think Rust knows it now. I think he suspects something. Marty is still not noticing what’s going on right under his nose. I was disappointed that Rust did not have something to show Marty about his wife and daughters’ involvement. I so thought that was what the video was going to show.
Yes, the lawnmower man had the scars. And I think Rust’s boss was on Rust’s side. I can’t wait to see the finale, though I don’t know if it can ever be as good as the build up has been. The journey has been the fun. No matter how it ends, it’s over, and that’s a bummer.
